The game started off with a bang as wide receiver Michael Hamburg returned the opening kickoff 85-yards for a touchdown.
Hamburg had more than 140 yards in returns on Friday. West Monroe also went over 250 yards rushing against the Patriot defense.
Senior running back Cameron Wright and senior wide receiver Zach Murphy ran for touchdowns also on Friday. Running back Charlie Norman rushed for 85 yards on 11 carries Friday.
Senior kicker Reece Aultman was a perfect 6-of-6 on PAT kicks for the Rebels.
“A big difference form last weekend,” WMHS Offensive coordinator Glenn Hunt said. “The biggest growth was in second half up front. We were still making the same mistakes (the first half) with our steps and pad level. They worked their tails off in practice this week. I told them in the second half it was fun to watch them grow up. They are doing it.”
The Rebel defense allowed just two touchdowns while forcing an interception (the ninth of Brooks Miller’ career) and safety during the contest.
