WM football makes coaching changes

West Monroe has shuffled the coaching staff a little bit this week after the announcement that nine-year quarterbacks coach Todd Garvin has resigned to take an assistant coach position at Ruston High School.

Garvin, a former Ouachita starting quarterback, had been part of staffs that led West Monroe to the state championship in 2009 and 2011.

“He was our quarterbacks coach ever since I took over as offensive coordinator,” Glenn Hunt said. “He helped me in so many ways. It was a move he thought was best.”

Longtime football and baseball assistant Joey Adams will take over quarterback coaching duties while assistant Joe Breen was promoted to running backs coach that was previously held by Adams.

Breen was the starting tight end at the beginning of West Monroe legend Don Shows’ coaching tenure 1989-1990.

West Monroe will begin fall practice on Wednesday, August 1.
